Welcome to South America and… Suriname ❤🌎 We arrived to Suriname, South America!!! We are tired but happy! 2100 nautical miles added to our sailing adventure! Sailing upwind for almost 2 weeks. We came early in the morning to enter beautiful Suriname river. After 35 miles we got to little marina, the only one in the country (for 12 boats:) The place is surrounded by jungle and nothing more Even though, our neihgbourhood includes piranhas, snakes, spiders, anacondas (!!!) we still love it! At night we were woken up by the very strange voice that sounded like a very loud snoring, coming from the bush. It was like a mix of human being, pig, donkey and …. who knows The next morning local guy told us it was a howler monkey )) Well, we have done all the paper work as customs, immigration, getting visas in Paramaribo (capital of Suriname) what took us almost one day but absolutely enjoyed it. People here are soooo nice, smiling and simply happy. It is a pleasure to be here!
We fell in love with that country, place, people… It is a great neighborhood for us and our dearest Poly. We are tired after last weeks of sailing and preparing home for a hurricane season. But at the same time happy and proud we made it on our own! And even much more happier that we decided to come here to Suriname (funny and scared…3 months ago we didn’t even hear about that country, and sounded more African for us eh )
(…) It’s the end of the world as we know it…🌎❤
Why did we choose Suriname and how hurricane season affects us?
